EN	pyranose The form of a sugar when it is condensed into a 6membered ring. By analogy with pyran, the 6membered cyclic compound containing an oxygen atom and two conjugated carbon-carbon double bonds, a pyranose consists of five carbon atoms of a monosaccharide and the oxygen atom that is the link to the anomeric carbon.
