The design of secondary switch mode power supplies differs in only one detail from the design of primary switch mode power supplies. Chopping is performed on the secondary side.
As a result, a much bigger transformer has to be used since it has to transform the mains voltage of 50/60 Hz. However, the transformer also acts as a fi lter and thus minimizes the mains pollution.
